Thoughts on twins
Next mod to go on the truck will be a set of Nathans twins. I assume I'll have them in the coming week. I don't however, have head studs in hand, and they'll have to wait. Stretched myself a little thin, but I don't mind waiting. On to the question.
Should I wait until I have the studs in to install the turbos? If its not a huge pain to waistgate at a different psi I figure I can set it at 40-50 and just go easy on it till I get them in.
Sound reasonable?
Also, I'm getting them in a "candy red silver vein" powdercoat. Turned out maroon (color of my truck only better) and I'd like to match some under the hood components.
So, should I paint them, or would it be best to have the pieces powder coated? Here's a pic. Think I could even match that with paint? Thanks for the help. You guys have saved my truck (and me) a time or two and I do appreciate it.

I like the color. That's pretty cool looking I think. I prefer powdercoating just for durability.
As far as studs, I think you know where I am at on that subject. As far as wastegating, that depends on how Nathan is setting it up. I will speak only on my set up as I know there is more than one way to skin a cat. My top turbo is the only wastegated one and it is set a little low (about 30psi). This allows for cooler air from the lower turbo to do most of the work. After that are two "pop-off" valves on the tubing just before the intercooler and they are set about 48-50. There is another 2 psi loss by the time it gets to the intake horn, so going into the intake manifold it is about an honest 46-48 psi tops including spikes. That is supposed to be in the safe range for the studs/headgaskets.
