Is there an appropriate 285-70-17 tire?

dodgezilla04,
Those are nice looking meats! How many miles do you have on them and how are they wearing? Quiet?

they are quieter than i thought they would be. wearing well after 3k miles. they are great in the sand and snow. throw mud everywhere. i have had 5k#'s in the bed, at 70 psi and no trouble. i love them. and thanks
The stock michelins were probably the worst tire ever except for dry road, I switched to Cooper Discoverer M+S LT265 70 17E. Great snow and ice tire, tons of sips for really good slippery traction. But it is a soft rubber compound so expect about 30k from them. For me though they are the best for plowing. I have 900lbs hanging out front and 2000 lbs of salt in the back. They also did well driving in the sands of the OuterBanx NC.

None of the above, these are the M+S's strickly snows but I ended up using them year round. They are good for pulling bush stumps out too
Just don't put the truck in 4-low when sitting on hot asphalt to pull a particularly stubborn stump out --oops, dug to china before I knew what was happening.

I just had a set of 285/70R-17 Toyo open country A/T's mounted last weekend, I think they look just right on a stock truck. They are very quite and so far handle very well in dry and wet conditions.
I got mine at http://www.tiredeals4less.com and they are 10Pr 126s load rated (80 psi 3750lbs).
I was in the same boat as you, I didn't want a mud tire, but I wanted something a little more than a passenger car tread pattern and these seemed to be just right.
Good luck.
