What would the difference be between 285/75/r16's and 285/70/r16 tires? Would the 70's be skinnier? I'm researching new tires and would like a little skinnier tire than the ones I have now which are 285/75/r16 but just as tall. also would a skinnier tire fit my stock rims with out any issues?

 

285 is the width in milimeters. The 70 and 75 are the height, in percantage of the rim size. So the 70 would be a little shorter. And the 16 is the rim size.

 

Do a search in google for "tire conversion" You'll find a bunch of calculators you can just enter the metric size and it will tell you how tall it is. Also most manufacturers post actual sizes of their tires in the "specifications" on their sites.
