Temperature Observations

So, I got the gauges installed & learning what the normal trends are. Consequently, I have a few questions / observations. Every reading I have is unloaded at thsi point.

Auto Meter Factory
Water 172F 200F
Trans 170F --
Oil Pres 20 40 (idle)
Oil Pres 70 >40 (2500rpm)
Fuel Pres 10 (idle)
Fuel Pres 6 (WOT accelleration)
Boost 32 (WOT FWY, passing)
Pyro 1200+ (pre-turbo, WOT)
Pyro 600-800 (cruising fwy/city)
Pyro <400 (shutdown)

Is the water temp always so steady? Overnight, it'll cool down to ~160F, but then again overnight temps cool down to 75F; during the day, we are hitting 110F lately.

When I started this morning, trans temp was ~160F & warmed up to 170F, near water temp.

I realize there is a LARGE mass of cast iron and water to heat & cool. But, are these temps kinda normal?

TIA

Tony

If you mean that your water temp never goes below 165*,then your gauge/sender is faulty. It doesn't matter how warm it stays overnight. After 8hrs.sitting in the drive way the engine/trans,etc. will be at ambient temp,or less. All of my rigs will be at ambient temp when I go out to start in the morning.Get an infrared temp gun,& check it out.
