Super Phat Shaft 66
The install is pretty straight forward. It is easier to just pull the manifold with the stock turbo on it and replace it with the new turbo connected.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect the battery negative cables.
(2) Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger elbow at this time it would be beneficial to remove the down pipe.
(3) Remove the whole air filter assembly
(4) Disconnect the turbocharger oil supply line from the turbocharger.
(5) Disconnect the hose clamp on the oil drain tube going in to the block.
(6) Disconnect the charge air cooler inlet pipe from the turbocharger compressor outlet.
(7) Remove the cab heater return pipe nuts from the exhaust manifold stud. Position the tube out of the way.
(8) Remove heat shield.
(9) Remove exhaust manifold bolt lock plates.
(10) Remove the exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head bolts and spacers.
(11) Remove the exhaust manifold and gaskets.
(12) Pull the whole assembly out carefully and unbolt the stock turbo from the flange.
(13)Clean all the areas that are getting new gaskets with a scraper and a scotch brite pad.
(14) Move over on to the new turbo the fitting and drain pipe off of the old turbo for the oil inlet and drain.
(15) Install the new turbocharger and a new gasket. Apply anti-seize to the studs and then tighten the turbocharger mounting nuts to 32 ft. lbs.
(16) Slide the assembly in to position and using anti- seize with new gaskets loosely bolt it to the head and tighten to 32 ft. lbs. Email me for a diagram on the exhaust manifold tightening procedures.
(17) Reconnect everything and then mount up the new down pipe that came with the kit. Depending on if you have a welder or not you can finish your install. if not I drove mine to a shop with just the down pipe. It was fine just really loud. If there are any questions email me or call. Cliff Cradier
