Suggestions for a newbie wanted please
Hello, Ken here in Calif. Thank you one and all for posts I have had the pleasure to read here.
Last week I picked up my 1st Diesel and lucky for me its the Cummins. 2006 megacab 2500 auto 4x4 Laramie in silver.
Did the ole tint front 2 windows to match, Zapco 500 watt amp to 10" JBL Pro sub. Now the Infinity system sounds GOOOOD!
After reading the posts in here for 2-3 weeks I have come to the conclusion, that you guys are know your pooh overall and love your CTD's.
I have ordered a drop in filter and a MBRP muffler for starters from DTR....and am thinking a Smarty when Italy comes back from vacation. (wazzup with that?? LOL)
I just want to wake it up and do NOT need the fastest meanest nastiest truck on the road ( got Harley for that, LOL) but I definately prefer to have the option to have some extra ummph when I feel the urge! Also recalibrate for 285's. Not a big bells and whistles guy here and all those gauges will just confuse me so please keep it simple.
So does this sound like a solid plan or....suggestions please!!
Hey thanks for everyone who posts here, it really helps guys like me learn without the costly mistakes or at least with less of them!
Sincerely,
Ken
ps. how in the heck do you post pics here or on my gallery?

Welcome, yeah these guys know their stuff thats for sure. I had an 03 powestroke that I recently sold and became a convert to the cummins family.
I too am going to buy a Smarty when available for the 06, so I think your plan is a good one!
If you want to try a Superchips flashpaq I have one I'd let you borrow just to try----I could ship it to you---just let me know?
Anyway, nice truck
No clue how to post pic's here

Just go to the "member photos" in the top center of the banner. Once you are there........you should see a link titled "upload photos". Just follow the directions from there and upload a photo from your computer.
It will take a few hours and a Moderator will post them to your photo gallery.
Once the photos are there...........if you want to put your pics in a post...just go to your photo gallery and highlight the "ubb code" in the bottom by right clicking and copying.........then go to the post you want to add the photo too........and right click and paste that code there.

sept or so as I hear of the 06, should be worth the wait. i woulld just wait if it was me. many posts on the subject. just check bobs web site, http://www.wagnerandassociates.biz/
as for gauges, the combo pyro/boost gauge in a SRT10 pod is not much and not that busy. gauges are good.
Getting gauges would be a good next plan.
Love my Smarty now that I have a real clutch.
If you do any programmer or box, except for maybe an EZ box, plan on some trans work in your near future, particularly if you go for the higher hp/tq settings.

WELCOME!!! I was in your boat a year ago. I didnt know anything about diesels except the fuel was different when I first logged on. Its your choice, but if you arent trying to build the fastest truck I would recommend adding the Quad 100HP box and his intake. I havent learned much but I love my Quad powered truck and his service is second to none. he doesnt go on vacation like the Italians either!!!!!
