gauge wiring help please!

gauge wiring help please!

i tapped into the orange and black 12v wire on light pannel and grounded to the ground in the drivers side front pannel under the hood and still no lights. this is driving me crazy. check the hot wire with volt meter and its definetly hot.

I would make sure that you have a good ground. If you do, check the bulbs, that's about it, hope this helps!

On your 05 there are two orange/black stripe wires coming out of the light switch. One works the inside cab lights, the other is the dimmer for the dash lights

Ground your test light to the same ground you have the gauge hooked to and see if you still get power from the orange/black wire. If not relocate ground.

Also, the above post is correct, I hooked mine to the dimmer for sure as I tested it while dimming the switch. Make sure your dimmer switch is at full bright and that you are getting power from both in and out.

I had problems with mine also. I used one of the bolts and holes that the original handle/pillar was mounted with, thinking it would be a good ground........ It is not a good ground. Had to drill new hole in pillar to get good ground.
