substitute for S&B air filter oil

substitute for S&B air filter oil

anyone know of a temporary replacement for S&B filter cleaner/oil?? Im about to get on the interstate and Im way overdue, without my cleaning kit. WD-40, liquid wrench, anything you know to work in a pinch.

In a pinch...stop at an Autozone and pickup a K&N filter maintenance kit.

how detrimental is it to run the filter unoiled?

the oil on the filter just catches all the dirt/debris that the filter wont

As long as the roads are not too dusty you should be ok for the time being.

However when you get the chance you should clean your filter (if it needs it) and re-apply the filter oil.

Sorry to hijack but how often do you have to clean and re-oil assuming normal (not too dusty, not pure clean air) conditions? All the S&B site says is that the filter capacity is 266.7 grams, which is worthless information IMO.

For a stock truck ran under normal conditions every 12 months give or take.

i daily drive mine everyday and i put my intake on back in sept 07. i bought a new filter and finally changed the one this past weekend, and 22k later. its pretty dang dirty

Clean it when it looks dirty. That's the way I have always done it. I always just buy the K&N kit since it's available just about everywhere....
