Dr. P

My rail pressure will drop then recover somewhat as tranny shifts when using beta 4.4 and 4.2 with a stock pump. When it hits overdrive, it will drop all the way to 13k and slowly come back as RPM's increase. I was planning on an upgraded CP3 but I was told that Dr. P box will help this by a very reputable person on here.

Is there anyone out there using this pressure box? Does it increase overall pressure or just help it ramp quicker? Any thoughts?

I have used the Dr P pressure box 2018>? Thinking it was the 115hp box.
Raises pressure based on boost numbers.

For me too aggressive, and I got tonnes of injector rattle.

I have used the 2021 box, they call it the tripple play it has 3 settings, off, 50hp, 100hp (I think), anyway the 50 hp was not too aggressive but the higher hp was, I stacked it w/smarty same issues as onetun.

So would it be better to just invest in a modded pump?

A pressure box is a good investment. If you are seeing 13k and better you should see an improvment with a MP-8, EZ, Dr.P.
Having a modded pump will help the cause, not sure what kind of wait these days.
You can use the P/B before and after modded pump....and there is no down time.

I ran the DR.P 2017(85hp/170ft/tq) for 20,000km before I stacked it with my Edge W/Att It worked real good for towing nice smooth power. Once I added the Edge, the DR.P gave me that little bit extra in top end when really hammering on it. I dont have any fuel pressure gauge yet but one is in the works so I cant give you any numbers but I know I havnt starved the ol CTD of fuel yet!

I just found a good deal on a used Stage 3 100hp. Should have it by next week. Looking forward to it. Hopefully now I can wait on modding my pump.

i use the dr.p with my smarty. theres is no question it works. i run a rail pressure and it raises pressure right to 25k under light throttle and keeps the rail loaded during my 1/4 runs. nice throttle response difference and top end improvement. i ran it on the dyno and it added about 50 hp on top of the smarty. also, helped fuel milage on back to back testing i did buy 1-2 mpg. i disagree with their 130hp gain, but still a nice piece.

Do you use a toggle switch to disable or is it on all of the time?

it comes with a toggle..3 position...off, tow, performance...only difference being tow cuts pressure at high rpm, performance keeps pressure up.
