Straight Pipe and Intake (AirRaid)?
Hello Everyone:
I just cut the muffler off of my 2004.5 CTD and replated it with a 4 inch pipe connecting to my existing factory 4 inch. I added an awesome 5 inch tip 18 inches long and it sounds great. My fuel mileage has increased and I am interested purchasing an air intake system.
What do you recommend? Does anyone have a AirRaid with the MIT installed? I travel about 1,000 miles a week and would like to increase my fuel mileage. Any feedback is much appreciated.

I use the AFE Stage II system but put it on the second day I had the truck so I cannot speak to mileage gains. Love it and I had the AFE on the Power Smoke and Duramax before the CTD.

AFE has 7 layers if you get the proguard filter. It has superior filtering with good airflow!!

I had the Airaid with MIT for about 3 months, and I am currently running the AFE Proguard 7 with torque tube. The mileage is no different between the two.
Turbo noise is more pronounced with the AFE torque tube and boost is slightly higher. I switched systems to get a complete torque tube from filter to turbo instead of insert.
FYI the Airaid is also a 7 layer filtration system and, imo, did a great job with airflow and filtration.
The exhaust made the biggest difference for me on mileage. The intake had a minimal effect on mileage but improved other factors...airflow, boost, lower egt's.

price the AFE is about $125 CDN taxes included and the Air raid is about $95 taxes. I ordered the AFE and am awaiting for it now. Both seem to have a great rapore so pick one and be happy with it.
