I have had both, so here is my insight. The AFE is better engineered. It provides better filtration and a smoother run from filter to turbo.

Don't get me wrong, the Airaid kit is still a good setup, but they don't replace the entire assembly from filter to turbo, they just add their MIT tube in the middle of the pleated rubber elbows (unless they have changed something in the last year). Their filters are very good in my opinion, but I think they fell short slightly when you look at the complete package.

Thumbs up Moor Air

I have looked at all of them out their and I went with Volant. Thy are just better engineered all the way around, new tub ,new Box and thy pick up cool out side air even with out attaching the ram air pick up and filtrate moor air than all of them because bigger pleats on the bigger filter. Check them out on the web *** pier apples with apples. It alls boils down to what you like we all have opinion's don't we. HA HA

I have an air aid intake and love it. no dirt inside the tube which is all that was really important to me. now I see they have oiless and if they clean just as good as they say, that's what I want to go with. I mean oiling isn't hard, but if you don't have to, why not. I think they have a filter, and i'm gonna see if it'll fit on my truck instead of the air aid. Just easier maintanence.

But never a problem with my intake

Consider foam

You might want to consider a filter system with an oiled foam element. Trueflow has a drop in foam filter for the stock air box and if you open up the bottom of the air box then install a dryer vent and some dryer hose down to the front bumper. Remove the flapper and angled vent housing so all you have is the baseplate and the 4 inch tube from the vent kit. Another option would be to get a Scotty 3 or 5 with the foam UniFilter element depending on what version of 04 you have.

10,000 SCORE participants in the Barstow to Vegas run and Baja 1000 couldn't be wrong and the majority of them use oiled foam filter.

I've run both the AFE stage I and stage II.

The stage II really lets my SPS66 spool a lot better, reducing smoke and EGT's. I thought Industrial Injection was full of it when they told me, but sure enough they were right.

I've done oil samples running the AFE, and my silicon levels were at 5ppm. I'd say the AFE is doing its job.

Anyone care to chime in with a report from a motor running an Air Raid?

I am another vote for the AFE Stage 2. My last 2 oil samples showed the ppm on silicon was a 4 after installing AFE. Turbo sounds like a jet engine spooling.

But, my truck is otherwise stock and it did not add power by itself. It should help everything breathe better when the power is added later, in my case.

I run the Airaid on mine and have had no troubles out of it. Easy to install and clean. No dust in the boot either.
