Still laughing at a AFE engineer

So i bought a AFE finally..... went cheap so i guess im geting what i paid for.

apparently im the first person to try and install the Stage 1 Dry system, which retains the bottom part of your stock airbox. the AIT sensor isnt close to fitting in the hole without hitting the filter, so i call AFE and the engineer looks into it and says hey theres spose to be a couple spacers in there..... im like none here! he does some checking and says yeah we didnt include them in the kit. Im thinkin man thats helpful! he says to just ziptie it on there its just a thermometer anyway! WTH! i didnt just pay good money on a brand new CAI to ziptie it on the side!

the engineer was gracious enough to send me a couple spacers in 4-6 days.
he said they were unaware of any problems with it, then claimed hes never even seen this system before!!
Why am i doing their R&D work?
should i repackage the whole works and send it back? get the S&B?

heres a link to what im working with

Do a search for DIY intake mods. There are several threads about cutting a hole in the bottom of the stock box and running a 4" hose down. That and a good dry filter work as well as/better than the kits. You can do it for under $15.

yeah i wanted a whistler but ***** doesnt make them anymore and I have no talent at welding, so id of had to pay someone to doit, i bought it on a blackfridy sale so only payed 120 for it, and the time i would of wasted screwing with the whistler is worth more to me then the $50 i woulda saved. I got it on now and it is loud! i like it!

I was trying not to destroy my airbox so i can put it back to stock if i need to take it in to the dealership so i dont think ill be cuting holes and useing dryer hose to get more air in, if i had a beater truck tho that would work awesome.

Yes, and if you live in snow country, make a winter plate to block that four in opening going into the basement. Else the airbox becomes a good place to chill a six pack.

And if you live on the west slope of the continental divide, add some coarse screening to keep the blasted (or soon-to-be-blasted) pack rats out of your air box.
