sputtering sound after 4" mbrp install

i now have a sputtering sound coming out of the tailpipe after installing my new mbrp single w/ cat delete. it sputters w/ the 5" tip installed and without. it didnt sputter w/ the stock exhaust at all, i cant figure out what is causing this, but it is really loud and very noticable even from inside the truck. it sputters at idle and while driving. anyone know what it could be? i hope someone can help, i love the exhaust tone the mbrp has, but the sputtering sounds rediculous.

No the sound is actually at the exhaust pipe. Very strange. I just cover the sound with the distraction of black clouds of diesel...

yeah, the sound is coming out of the tip. i may try re-installing the cat and see if it goes away. other than that it must be the muffler they use?

i think it is the muffler because my truck is straight piped without a cat and there is no sputtering just bad highway drone. let me know what you find out because i am going to put an aftermarket system on to get rid of the annoying drone good luck

I've got a 5" system-- have not ever noticed a "sputtering" sound... I will have to pay more attention

i just installed the cat and the sputter is completely GONE. while i had everything apart i started it up w/ only the downpipe and i could hear the sputter so im guessing the sound was coming from the engine or turbo and the cat was absorbing the sound. maybee some other aftermarket mufflers do a better job of absorbing or hiding the sputter when straight piped?? all i know is NO MORE SPUTTER!!!! only problem now is the exhaust isnt as loud, oh well.
