Quick question Just installed the Commander with Quad std! On level 3 100hp the highest boos I can reach is 34psi Is this normal? Talked to quad tech and they said It should read around 38? They told me it might be the commander!

 

If you disconnect the map sensor connector ( coming from the standard box ) and jump the red to the blue wire you should be able to see the highest the commander will read. Caution! If you dont hook up the factory connector in the mean time it will set a code! The enigne doesn't have to be running to do this. I have a "smoke switch" which basically does the same thing, but this would be easiest for you to do a quick test.

 

That is the same as intalling a smoke switch? Why wouldn't it read max with out doing this?

 

Maybe your air filter is dirty not getting enough air flow, fuel filter clogged, not getting enough fuel. Doing that will just test the commander as far as what it CAN read. There may be other things limiting how much boost you can actually make.

 

Filter system is brandnew only 1 month old, changed the fuel filter 3weeks ago. But I will try what you said and see what happens.

 

Depending on when and where you got your Commander we did have some a while back that have an overprotected circuit. It has been a while and I had thought we had replaced all of them but, there is always a straggler.

With your setup you should be able to peak over 40psi pretty easily. If it turns out to be one that just did not get stopped at the distribution level we will send you a replacement ASAP.

Just call tech in the morning and give them a serial number and they will get a new one on the way.


Also, if you do end up sending it back, please take a few extra seconds and package the old one up nicely. We will most likely fix it and replace buttons and plastics in re-sell it if it is new. The fix is simple so that is my guess. The reason I ask to package it nicely is that we get some from time to time that are all scratched up and just thrown carelessly in a box and it basically gets turned into junk for no reason.

I thought that the commander will only read up to 33psi from the map sensor? Is there an update that will fix that, or have I been missing from the forums too long?

 

Well, it depends on the truck and year model. For a 04.5=07 5.9L truck we can read up to about 44-45psi

 

O.K. then I should be able to read up to 45psi. I have the commander set to the year of the truck. I just thought that all the commanders were only able to read up to the 33psi. Thanks

 

Talked to tech and gave him the serial# and he said it is a new commander!and that he would get back with me! I just received it last week!

 

So what happens when I upgrade my turbo to better than 44-45 PSI? Can I do something to the Commander or do I have to get a seperate gauge?

 

Yes, we have an analog to digital boost sensor that will go from 0-100psi.

You hook it up sort of like a mechanical gauge with nylon tubing and then it sends the digital signal to the COmmander.
