dodgezilla04, you wouldn't be able to take a quick pic of the wires in question to make it a little more easy for those of us, easily intimidated? I might be tempted to see how much more power can be made down low, right off idle, and how much quicker it might spool the turbo, & if it smokes, I could use it as a night feature....... thanks bro, and congrats on the killer dyno results, that is awesome.

Well, pics or no pics, I just bought a few t taps, and a switch, did not drive it yet but it actually puts out a puff sitting in park which it NEVER did before. I am thinking this might be just what I needed to give me a boost off the line and get that turbo singing its sweet song sooner. Dz 04, thanks for the clear writeup on how to. Have you noticed much difference on your egt gauge?

mike!!!!!!!! i am sorry, what a flake, i forgot. ooops.
no i didnt notice any change in egt, it isnt adding more fuel overall, just much sooner. max egt should remain the same or slightly less since the turbo is spooling quicker, not just blasting fuel without the air. maybe?

i dont use it anymore now that the smarty is in.

once again i am sorry about forgetting.

no problem you wrote it out clear enough to be understood, and once I actually looked at the wires, it was easy as pie. on a side not, I feel bad for a buddy of mine, he just spent a grand on a new ecm for gmc fuely, a bit older truck, but the ecm gives him a claimed 60 hp, and more torque... well it seems he was dragging a dumpster out of hte mud, and torqued it a bit too much, twisted both his drive shafts!

If you chose to tap it out at the harness where it plugs into the map sensor (on the quad harness) would it be the dark blue wire and the black wire right beside it? Tony

tony, dark blue wire and red wire. take a multimeter and measure the voltages at each to be absolutely sure. red wire will be 5.0vdc, dark blue will be 0.5vdc at idle.

The wire right beside the blue wire out at the plug is 5 volts at idle. It I tap both of those wires and switch it on I see 39psi on the recon instantly. But it doesnt seem to make much of a difference down low like some have seen. Just a little smoke. If I turn the box up to 100 hp it will throw a code.
With the box set to off and the switch on it will go into limp mode?? Tony

wire right beside the blue wire? i dont have the harness in hand and the truck is at home. there is a 5vdc wire(red) which is ecm supply voltage to the sensors. the dark blue is the sensor output to ecm which gives a varying voltage signal to tell the ecm what boost is.

the dark blue should be around 0.5v at idle and 5.0v at full boost. you are tapping this on the quad harness not the factory harness right? i really recommend tapping these at the module connector under the dash, keeps the weather off the connectors, less wires you have to run throught the firewall, and the quad harness is very cheap and easy to replace if something were to go wrong(unlike the DC harness)

the only time i got a code and driveability trouble was when i tapped the light blue wire(which is temp) and confused the ecm. obviously the wrong wire

smoke

Mine is wired from the dark blue wire to the black wire right next to it. It jumps pin d with pin C. It blows great smoke....No codes (i use it a lot).....turbo spools quickly.....I can run it on any setting with no problem and it smokes great on 60 and 100, but no so great on 30.
The only downfall is when I hammer down on it like to just blow some smoke and not really take off, the throttle tends to take a second to come of the RPM, probably due to the extra fuel. So I would say this is not a safe mod to use in heavy traffic.
I browsed the topic of the smoke switch on several forums before I decided to do it, and the way I described has no problems, other ways sometimes get codes or don't work at all. I also added a fuse to my jumper just in case...

I tapped the wire on the quad harness out at the map sensor. I used the dark blue and the black wire right next to it. It has 4.9 volts on it at idle. I will try tapping it at the module box and see if that red wire makes it act any different. I cant imagin that the 5 volts was going away as the engine speed came up, but I'll check it and see. Thanks for your help guys! Tony
