I am running the Wild TM for STOCK turbo AND a Quad Boost fooler.
I would not see boost over 32 psi and then only for a second, then it would go to 30.. this is w/o the boost fooler.

W/O the Boost Fooler is is hard to get the boost over 25 psi. EGT seems high w/o it too.

I like running 42 PSI peak and getting to 30-35 PSI fairly easily I can't seem to do that w/o the boost fooler. I am watching my boost closely and do not let it go over 45.

I would like it if the Smarty on Wild TM for Stock sticks and turbo had a 40 Psi limit instead of the 30, so I could use the fuel w/o EGT's going so high, so fast.

That's IF that is what is going on... I could be all wet... but for me on #7 w/o the quad I had a hard time getting over 25 PSI, and EGTs were high.

When I went to #9 I reinstalled the Boost fooler in hopes of less EGT and it being easier to get 25+ PSI. (which it IS doing.. easier boost and lower temps)

After this tank of fuel (MPG looks VERY GOOD) I will try a tank w/o the boost fooler on #9 Wild TM and see what #'s I get for boost, EGTs, and MPG.

I would like to not shut the waste gate off (aftermarket Turbo SW), but rather like it to limit it to like 40-42 PSI. A raised Boost version for stock sticks and a stock turbo .. hummmm.. :-)

The EGT spiked very easy on hills empty not towing w/o Quad Boost fooler on #7... I have to really watch the EGTs w/o the boost fooler! Even with boost at 25 PSI 3/4 throttle on #7 the temps would climb fast and go well over 1350.

I am sure a call to "Barco" would answer all my questions, but I have yet to reach Bob on the phone.. LOL .. Not that I am trying all that hard with only 2 calls over the last 2 weeks in to Bob w/o leaving a message.

I can say that the truck is a blast to drive now. Much closer to the feel of my Gen 2 with TST #10 but now with "top end" too. My 12 valve pooped out at 2850 RPM.

I do love the Smarty.

yeah could really care less about this stock turbo. i have since turned the smarty down to sw 3 and can still see more than 50 psi at 3/4 throttle. like NGM Diesel stated i put down a great number for having a stock turbo. i cant wait to see what my SPS66 is going to do for me.

Today I tested mine on level 5 I cant touch 45psi. About 42 43 then at WOT it levels out at around 35psi.

I am not overly confident that my turbo is not going to blow. I was just saying that if they blew at 45psi. Then it seems that a lot of people on here would have blown turbos. Your right, I doubt my turbo will last 500,000 miles. But I would hope that my engine last close to that.

So what usually blows on a turbo from to much boost?

Thanks for the info, Brad

From what I understand, it's like a grenade going off. You can expect a dented hood, I'm sure.

Ok I have been doing a little research on here. Here is a post I found that Qzilla posted.

Just boost PSI is not going to kill a stock turbo. For example you can slap a boost fooler on a stock truck and run 38-40psi all day long and not hurt it. What does happen to these turbos is they get way overfueled or barked and that will kill them. I know of turbos that broke at 32psi because they were so overspun they just snapped. It had nothing to do with boost it was simply that the truck had 700hp worth of fuel and he just flat over ran the shaft.

Now I am not saying just go beat on the stock turbo. If you beat on anything long enough it will break. What I am trying to get across is that on the average truck with added power running in the mid to low 40psi range is not going to just break them unless someone is being overly rough with the truck.
We are just talking about getting some more air into the engine so it does not melt.

Believe me if 40+psi just broke turbos you would see an awful lot of posts on here. Everyone of our modules will get you to at least that point and so do most other modules. IF they were going to break regularly it would be a commonly read failure!

I'd agree with that.

Lets talk in 100k. Just trying to help...big power means mistakes...barking/surging...etc. You will smoke that turbo. It is not a whether..its a when.

What you need worry about is not the boost but drive pressure. If you hook up a gauge for drive pressure you will see that at 45 psi boost with a stock turbo will create over 60 psi in drive pressure. You can push your luck, I did until I had to buy a new long block.
