#5 smarty wild w/ stock clutch?

Has anybody been doing this with safe results? I'm currently running #5 moderate tq management, but want to increase the response a little without going overboard. I've found #'s 7 & 9 are a little to touchy down low for my driving habits, so I stick to 5. What are the differences between the tq management levels, and what can I expect? All help is appreciated.

Personally, I would stick with the mild or moderate on a stock clutch. Unless you're planning to change the clutch in the near future.

I eventually want to change clutches, but thats about a yr. from now. I'm still into fuel mileage because I want to save enough to get more mods, and I want to get the right clutch. Is the response on wild that much more than on moderate?

any clutch that holds up will be very grabby. it doesnt matter what kind you get. if you pull a trailer alot it sucks with something aftermarket. thats one of the reasons I bought an automatic.

I do pull trailers frequently, but I usually pull less than 10,000 lbs. and I don't plan on going past 500 hp. I know it will be grabby, but it has to be done, and I don't know if i will change my mind and push for even more power. But for now I just want to stick to what I have, and i don't want to send my clutch home early( or anything else for that matter)

I ran my '06 6speed on SW #5 Moderate Torque Management and did in the stock clutch within 30,000km(about 3months). If you want to keep the clutch I would stick to SW#3.

The "wild" is much more touchy .. the throttle delivery is not linear. I ran it for 3 months then went back to Moderate.... The only thing I did not like was the throttle being to jerky with the wild SW... I loved the low RPM power.. Hopefully the next release will address that. Can't wait for the new Smarty SW to come out!

Oh..... My South Bend Clutch Con OFE is not grabby at all......

I run my Smarty on #9

my ofe settled out in about 400 miles. not jerky at all, even when backing the trailer, and holds well.

That's what I figured, and if the feeling did change(i'm sure it did), by the time it was broken in you're probably pretty used to it.

As far as the wild being touchy, that's what I don't want, that's why I stay off sw7 & 9. Can anybody get that beta 4.4 download, and if so how do I go about doing it? I'd like to give it a try.

I slipped the stock clutch on the '05 with SW#5 and the Quad Race on PL2 while powershifting in the higher gears.

SW#9 + PL3 won't slip in any gear as long as you "lift to shift"

mikes right, i havent slipped mine either when hot rodding or dynoing over 500. it has half a dozen dyno runs at over 500 with out a slip, and the power is higher now and no issues.
when hot rodding, i have occasionally been able to ship fast enough to still have 30psi of boost, and it still grabs and holds on. i love this thing.

Um, I can't slip mine. Chirping the duals into second or ******* it out on the highway, #9 all the way.

Chris, this truck is becoming scary-fast!

We have a high-gear rolling acceleration test out at the shop that we use for comparing different mods/tunes - the '05 has run hundreds of them. Best runs w/stock fueling & 315s were 60-85mph uncorrected, and the Quad by itself would do 60-75mph with the monster "7th gear" Toyos. Yesterday, #9 + PL3 did 60-95mph with a lawnmower and a load of 10' 304SS hanging out of the bed (over 9500 lbs. gross )... and that's uncorrected, so it was actually 6th gear from 70-110mph!

5th gear is the new 3rd!
