First time users: This might help.

The installation can be tricky. You must extract the drivers and the update using 7-zip, which must be installed first. Clicking on the 7-zip file (7z442.exe) will prompt the install in Program files. Then open the update file (which has the extension ".7z" with the 7-zip program located in program files. Copy the uncompressed Update file to a new folder dated with today's date.

Then hook up your smarty to the USB port and click on the Smarty USB update icon. If this fails because of no FTD2xx driver available, then you must go back to the CDM 2.00 folder and click on the ftdibus.cat file, which will prompt extracting the .inf driver file (actually all files - click okay).

After that, unplug and plug in the Smarty again, follow the USB driving instructions and point to the CDM 2.00 folder. The installation utility will find the driver .inf files and complete the driver installation. Now you can click on the Smarty USB icon. Go to file, open, and select the extracted update (.smt) file and click send. Ten minutes to update (or thereabouts).

Yep, it's a bunch of technogarbage, but once you get the driver extracted and installed, next time will be easier - just remember to extract the updates or nothing will happen.

I was way over thinking it, and it took me forever to figure out.

Zip 7 is the tool used to decompress the files.

The Drivers and the program files are compressed and need to be Unzipped(decompressed) with Zip 7 before you can use them.

You use the USB to load the programs into your smarty.
