Smarty Timing Rattle

I have a Smarty and its set on level 5 mild TM and my truck has a noticeable timing rattle now so I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get rid that. Would the aftermarket injector setting lessen the timing and relieve it a little bit? Anyone else with this same problem? It's not a big deal but I really don't like how it sounds to me.

Definitely try the aftermarket injector program. I had a very very slight timing rattle at part throttle. I went to aftermarket injector stock torque management for smoke issues, however the timing rattle is completely gone. I'm also using SW 1 which, from what I understand, has slightly more timing for fuel economy.

The after mkt injectors program reduced timing rattle in my truck and also reduced the power as well. I tried after mkt. inj. and turbo with the wild tq. mngmt. and it was a dog compared to the factory inj. and turbo with moderate tq. mngmt...

I will agree that some of the fun was gone when I changed over. But the reduction in smoke, for me, more than made up for the power loss.

I was just tired of constantly watching the tailpipe and driving like there was an egg under the pedal.

Its not really that I minded the smoke, but I really didn't want to attract that much attention to my truck. From what I saw I would've been about the smokiest thing around here.

I can still lay a decent cloud out though which is great for tailgaters!

Try the new Beta 4.x programming

You may want to give the new Beta 4.x programming a try. My truck had some rattle with an older version and this version has pretty much zero rattle, at least on my truck. This is the new version of the programming that is due to be released soon (an update of the 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 series that are discussed in so many threads). Todd Schwantes.

Agree, it'll help with the smoke / rattle....but it's much diff than 4.2-4.4...as there's no pressure and it's got a more mild power curve.

I guess I meant to say the new Smarty Beta is based on the 4.2 4.3 4.4, with "normal" power levels at each setting. I think with the previous Betas all levels were like +170 hp.
