Talking Smarty "team" Bob & Marco fixed my ECM !!

For those that knew or those that didn't know, I had a problem since I first loaded a BD power pup pre-programed with crazy larry from the factory, as it changed my stock software # from American to a Brizilian #. What that did, was to not allow me to use any other downloader or be able to get updates from the dealer. The dealer could not correct problem, Bully Dog denied they were responsible, and even went so far as to say they didn't make a power-pup already programed with the crazy larry program ( well I got one in my hand) The only way to correct was to buy a new ECM from Dodge for $$$$$$$$$ or live with the problem.

Everytime I tried to load a different downloader, ie. PPE, Superchip, Smarty, I would get error messages,"unidentified vin #, un-known part #, mismatched # etc. That's how I found out about the ECM part# being changed from American to Brazilian.

I had always wanted to try the Smarty, and couldn't do so until I talked to Bob Wagner one day, and he mentioned to me he had heard of this problem before, and said Marco might be able to write a special program for me to correct the problem. Well, that's just what he did. Marco wrote a program, Bob loaded it into a Smarty sent it to me to load into my truck. Well I'm happy to report, the program changed my Brazilian soft ware back to American, as it was "stock" from the factory!!! Next I loaded the Smarty program from another Smarty and everything went smoooooth.

Bottom line, Bob and Marco went way beyond the call of duty, 150% customer service, to correct a problem not caused by their product. I am now using the Smarty and getting to know all the different settings.

I have destroyed the BD power-pup so now one else will get the bad "virius" and go through what had to.

Thanks again to Bob and Marco. It's refreshing to get a product from someone who really cares about their product and above all customers.

Thumbs up

Haven't tried all the setting yet, just running level 8 ( too much snow) not smoke, pretty strong seat of the pants. Need to get on a Dyno for comparisons. Would compare it with the Crazy Larry...If all works out will stack with something else in near future. (expermenting now shhhhhhhhh)

I too had a BDDL and tried the crazy larry.........the one thing I noticed when I did the install of the downloader was it said I had current updates and would I like to continue? Well when I went back to stock they were gone so I am wondering if I have a BRA/ARG software as well in my ECM. Do I just try the smarty and hope that it loads with no problems?

Smile

Deuce, if it's a BD triple dog, you are probably all right. The trucks I'm aware of were 4.5-05's that used a Dodge power-pup/crazy larry. If you try the smarty you should have no problems.
