Smarty on order . . . question(s)

I don't have the Smarty in hand yet, but it's on the way. I don't know if the instructions that come with it explain everything very clearly or not, so that's why I'm posting up here.

Does anyone have a site or link that provides a good (relatively novice level) read on timing and Smarty programming . . . I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs of the Smarty and what all it can do.

The transmission is stock right now, and I haven't upgraded my fueling capabilities either - so any recommendations on what I should run the Smarty on (settings) and whether I should turn the Edge off and use it for gauges or what setting I should leave it on? Thanks a lot guys! Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for those links. I've read all the company stuff, but still a little unfamiliar with what certain things are and what the combination of them will do (timing, rail pressure, torque, etc.). Maybe, to be a little more specific, does anyone have any suggestions for these scenarios with a STOCK tranny (I'm going to upgrade the tranny and fuel system at some point, just can't afford it yet):

1. General driving around the city and on the highway UNLOADED. I don't mind some smoke (in fact, more smoke would be good) and would like the truck to be as responsive as possible while still being "relatively" safe (I know nothing it totally safe) with my stock auto tranny. I'm not a racer, and my truck is worth too much money to trash, but it would be nice to play a little at the stop light every now and again.

2. Towing 4-5 tons in the city and highway.

I don't know if anyone else is running a Smarty (not the junior) with the Edge Juice w/ Att . . . but some advice (for the Smarty and JA) on the aforementioned scenarios would be much apprecaited! Thanks guys.

Torque management is the biggest. It provides low end fueling and is most aggressive on #4. Rail pressure should be kept @ stock cause raising it will damage injectors. So w/ a full stock truck, I'd keep it @ stock settings (1 or 0), except for the hp levels. Be fine @ 5 or below. Biggest mods required for more enjoyment are a converter, valve body, lift pump (FASS or Airdog), and a turbocharger and for maximum enjoyment are a full flow exhaust, which you already got, a bigger CP3 and fully built transmission.

Thanks. And when you say you'd "keep it @ stock settings (1 or 0), except for the hp levels" you're referring to the Smarty and torque management? What about the JA?

How about the order of importance for upgrades. I'm assuming it should go something like this:
1. Intake mod (of some sort)
2. Tranny upgrade (VB and TC at least)
3. Lift pump
For the first three/most important mods to handle the extra power?

Keep the rail pressure, waste gate, timing, and torque management on stock settings and the CaTCHER software you can go up to 70hp. Anymore and you stand the chance of slipping the converter, draining the rail, taxing the stock lift pump, and over boosting the turbo, er I mean it's spinning way faster than it was designed. Now the intake mod isn't real important yet, but a TC, VB, and LP are. Then later down the road, a turbo and a cold air intake, then a transmission. Smarty does work better w/ out the Juice hooked up ( stock MAP, RP, & injector harnesses plugged back in)but it still can be used for gauges and a turbo timer.

With the CaTCHER software boosted to 70hp will that smoke mutch? And I'm not 100% sure what you mean by saying that the Smarty will work "better" without the JA hooked up. Was thinking about taking it off and selling it and replacing it with gauges . . . Probably will do that if the Smarty doesn't seem to be operating reliably with the JA hooked up.

It'll smoke a little, but not as much as if you were to set it on level 3 or 4 for torque management. For some reason there is too much conflict w/ the Edge and Smarty running together. I tried the stack and it was worse than a stock engine. Unhooked the main 4 connections and it did a heck of a lot better.

I have run the Smarty and Edge/Juice Attitude stack on my truck for quite a while.

My truck is very mild (stock turbo) and a 6 speed manual.

I tow a 10k lbs 5th wheel regularily in the summer and love the in cab adjustability of the E/A.

I have the Smarty Revo loaded very mildly set to level 1 (30HP) with stock timing & everything else set to default.

Smarty set to stock timing since the E/A adds timing.
Empty I run the E/A at level 3. Towing I back the E/A down to level 2. Maybe one day I will crank the Smarty up to 60hp...

The truck runs great. EGT's are just fine towing.
The truck just seems to run so much better with the Smarty programming.
So much smoother and revs easily to 3000 rpm, plus the cruise control idle control is great.

I can avoid any smoke if I just take it easy at launch. Or I can really roll a cloud.

Stealth-
That's some really good info. Thank you very much. I guess the thing to do would be to give the stack a try and see how I like it before I rip the JA off and ditch it.

Anyone else running this combo?
