Smarty Jr Pod settings 101(for us slow folks)
Don't let the talk deter you. The smarty Jr. is not that hard to figure out. Play with the different settings, find the one you like and leave it alone if you want. It has been a great addition to my truck. I found that on SW2 TQ2 TM2 that my truck pulls good, egt's and smoke are not a problem, so I just leave it there. I have played some with the different settings but have found that this setting works well for me. You cannot switch between SW1 and SW2 on the fly.
Sorry I'm figuring 16k truck (7377)/trailer(8115 dry) could be a tad more.It will be more when I tandem pull with 2500 more behind me. Gears are 373's. Up Mount Ord here 6% for 7 miles doing 58-62 mph and Rye Creek hill 6-7% 12 miles 55-65 there are curves so you can get slowed but can recoup.

Nittos are 285/70/17 E rated towing 65 front 68 rear non towing 65 front 52 rear and great tire wear.
W/ Kore lvl kit same as stock except sit up in the front now.
I'll tell you this call Bob or Larry and pick you up a Jr, it will come w/ Revo/Pod and just play and find what works for you. We here can give you suggestion but you know what you'll like most. For towing I think I'll stay with sw1 TM4 Tq 2 just does the job and feels real nice and minimal smoke.

Are the nittos an all terrain tread???
No it's gets to around 55-60 and push the peddle more and she'll kick down to 3rd. Now if I'm in an area that has lots of ups and downs and speed limit is around 50-55 then yeh I'll just put it OD/off less shifting and egts are better as well as coolant.

This thread has been very informative, much more than either the MADS website, or anything coming out of Bob Wagner.
Getting to KNOW or understand how the Smarty Jr works seems rather difficult at first, and I am sure after a few adjustments it will work just fine.
Not having good reference materials is truly what deters many from taking the plunge. I personally can get more out of technical stuff, things that speak in numbers as far as percentages of power increases, percentages of torque, etc.
I have had a difficult time graspeing the less than this and more than that when either of those have no numeric baseline to what this or that is.

Ok so I plunked down some cash for the Smarty Jr. today. History; I have had a Quadzilla standard on my truck for about 3 years, I ran it on 60 when towing and mostly 100 hp when just driving around and it has performed flawlessly. When I bought the Smarty Jr today I had the dealer help me download it and he was sure he understood the numbering system....wrong. He set it at level 2 (tow) and 2 on tm and tq. After driving it home I thought **** I'm not gonna pay that kind of money for this. I then come home and looked at this thread and went out and reset it per the "POD" number system for TQ management, 1 being mild, 4 being the most aggressive. I have to say that level 2 (towing) and TQ set at 4 and TM set at 4 it was really impressive. I tried performance and it was very impressive as well. So impressive that I turned it back to level 2 for fear of messing up my tranny! So now this is my question to those who have used it for a while: You can go in and adjust the TM and TQ and it gives you a message that says "Writing memory" does that alone change the settings on your ECM or do you actually have to go through the download process? Sorry for the long post but I'm trying to help myself understand this product as well as other folks who are on the fence like I was.

And you must have old software if TQ4 is more aggressive them TQ2.
If your 04 is an early 04 it will really like TM4 over TM2.
Ok thats good to know, you have to go through the download. I was changing it without downloading and it didn't seem to make a difference. My truck is an early 04, the 305/555 and it definately reacts to 4 MUCH more than 2. And I agree with what was previously posted that this thread is much more useful than anything I've read or anything on MADS website or anything that Bob or Marco have contributed.
Btw I watched them download the supposed newest updated program today when I bought it and the Smarty says it version 5.08A. How that relates to the programs I'm not sure, but I do know TQ 4 is definatly stronger than TQ 2.
Not sure where Kuna Idaho is but I live close to Logan Ut. I bought it at a place called Moonlight diesel. Would I be farther ahead to laod the most current version or just try to understand the version I have??
My truck seems to like 5.08 better than any of the newer software (more responsive and better fuel mileage). I used 5.09 for a little while but went back to 5.08 because I lost a little fuel mileage and low end power was sluggish. If you are thinking of updating to newer versions see if you can get 5.08 loaded on your computer just in case you would like to go back.

The only difference in 5.08 and 5.09 was the TQ was reversed. On 5.09 default tq is the most aggressive, on 5.08 default tq is the least aggressive (other than stock)
