I am guessing 5.08 ended up with Smarty SR TQ for some reason.. 5.08 is the only oddball since day 1.

Like AH64ID, it almost seems as though the 5.08 did end up with the SR TQ, that would be the best explination.

I have read everything about the JR I can find, seems as though most people are having as many problems deciding on what to run as the SR guys are . . I guess the JR poses about 1/2 the possibilities as the SR. Lighter stress load.

You know 5.08 reminds me of the girlfriend you didn't want to take home to mom and 5.10 is the one that's marriage material. Seriously theres quite a bit of difference between the two at the "mild" TQ setting and I have tasted the forbiden fruit .

Can someone explain the timing thing real quick.I dont have a smarty jr yet still researching, but if the 40 hp uses timing only, couldnt you set the timing to stock, and if so wouldnt that just be stock, not 40 hp since the 40 hp tune uses timing only? Are the 5.08/5.09 versions still avalable and can you go back from the 5.10 to the 5.08 versions without an issue(could they be downloaded into your computer for use later)?

This is what I was thinking when 5.08 originally came out. I have owned the Jr since the original software, I also tried most of the updated versions and 5.08 by far is the best seat of the pants tunes that the JR has come out with since day one (in my truck). I just can not tow with TQ 3 or 4. I would like to know what the TQ settings really compare to in relation to the SR.

IMHO, 5.8 just needs to be forgotten. If folks want less TQ Management they need the Sr..

I am not sure I understand the point of your timing question.. It would be stock, with the tq management at 1 also.

My question is if the 40 hp tune uses timing only to get the 40 hp increase, then if the timing was set to stock(on the 40 hp tune),where would the 40 hp increase come from?Kinda stupid question but looking through the options it says you can select TM and TQ for each level, and stock timing is an option isnt it?I am kinda confused as if timing and fuel were used to add power and either one was tuned back(lets say from advanced to stcok)then were would the hp increase come from?Any tuner/chip I have used(on my 02 PSD) had a setting but no options of TM or TQ,it was a set program(like my chip had stock/50/80/100 hp settings and you could here more timing rattle in the upper settings.Just a curious question of mine.

Then you don't gain hp... The advertised gain is at TM4. TM2, 3, and 1 are less hp gain. And on SW1 the hp gain isn't peak, but in the 1800-2700 rpm range. TM4 gives as much as 55hp at 2200 rpms.

MJF6175.....what is your address? Im gonna send you a Christmas gift! j/k but seriously, I have been asking these questions for 2 years now trying to get this figured out. I have asked Bob and Marco and they both said sw3 default/default. Its obvious when I drive it that this is not true. Im currently on SW3 tm default and tq4 and it seems nice but im going to try sw3 tm4/ tq2 like your chart shows for the 5.07 software. Bob also told me that with the right combo on the Jr that sw3 can produce as much as 125 hp...what ya think? THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 5.08 and I run sw2 and put the tq setting on 3 and my tranny hated it. It was slipping pretty bad...bad enough for me to turn it back...

If I load sw3 & turn it down to maybe 80 is that the same as sw2? On my work truck should I put it on sw2 on 99, or sw3 & turn it down? I want to set it & forget it with as little smoke as possible. It sounds like different year models act different. Mine is an 06, stock with an auto.
