smarty jr with pod questions??
Hey guys anouther question here.
sorry if its to long.
My truck is basicly stock with automatic tranny 3:73 gears
im not to familiar with the numbers codes or anything with tuners. by looking at the smarty jr w/pod i see a lot of numbers and power levels that i dont know what they mean but i see that i can adjust under stock power which i know would help mileage alot.
Now can anyone tell me if it would be a bad idea with a stock tranny ?
and
What all can this thing do ??? ( in explaination that a non-gearhead can comprehend)

do a quick search for Smarty PoD. There are LOTS of posts on how PoD works and you should find your info there. I don't own one, but I read enough of them to know how it works. Looks and you shal find.

the smarty jr will be able to toast your tranny, turbo, motor ect if you let it. It can add 40, 100, 170hp ( I think). Any extra power will damage things, no matter what. It is all how you drive & how often you call on those extra ponys.
As far as I am aware, most people set it on the 2nd setting ( the 100hp mode) It gives the best performance/fuel economy out of the 3.
The PoD settings will let you dial ( on the fly ) between +100 hp ( setting 99 ) or barly enough to move the truck ( setting 01 ). Give it a whirl but remember that your truck was only designed to take stock power,

40,70,100hp Remember your in control use at your own risk. You really can't go off what others say is ok to run or "whats safe" as we all drive differant, every truck runs and acts differant stock or with mods. You can brake it with power mods added of with out just running down road stock.

I had the Smarty Sr and traded down to the Smarty Jr, just so I wouldn't toast my tranny. I plan to keep my stock transmission for a few more years, and I know misuse of the Smarty could destroy it, but as previously mentioned, you can mess the tranny up in the stock configuration any number of ways.
That being said, after driving my truck with the Smarty installed (both the Sr 60 hp & Jr 70 hp settings) I hate driving it in the stock configuration. It's a dog off the line compared to the mildest torque management setting the Jr offers.
I recommend that you find someone near by and see if they'll let you load their Smarty on your truck for a test drive. If someone asked me I'd be happy to do it, since it's amazing what that little box can do.
And with sensible application of the settings offered, you can be very close to stock with the added benefits of increased mileage and that little extra shot of power you would probably come to appreciate.

I have the Smarty Sr and on the 60hp setting with mild torque management I didn't feel the tranny (stock tyranny) slipping. But the 60hp setting with moderate torque management the tranny would slip noticeably. Hope that helps a bit.

It looks like they’ve posted the Jr’s Revo POD software for download:
