I just leave mine on 9 all the time now and use my right foot and my egt gauge to monitor everything. I don't back off on the Smarty settings for towing either.

If you drive sensible and don't "abuse" the stocker trans, they CAN hold up a while. If you like to do burn outs and boosted launches....it won't last long.

I don't like the way the stock trans performs below 50ish mph, but it is not "broken", it just has a sloppy factory tq converter.

Dyno numbers are 467hp/915tq........on 2 different dynojets a couple of months apart.
how do you keep your egts down? on 9 mine smokes a lot and egts skyrocket without trying

Once u start playing with it, its hard to start. When i got mine i went from 3 to 50 and then to 9 and 9 was stonger then my bullydog crazy larry setting. I got smart and left it on 3 and hid my box in my room so no more changing it.

My EGTs are actually lower than stock with the Smarty on 9 if I drive normally. It will smoke though, pretty heavy if I lug the motor. I can make my EGTs skyrocket too if I put my foot into the firewall.....but normal driving it is fine.

You guys are funny. This reminds me of the scene in Young Frankenstein where Gene Wilder's character says: "No matter what you hear in there, no matter how cruelly I beg you, no matter how terribly I may scream, do not open this door or you will undo everything I have worked for. Do you understand? Do not open this door."Bad things happen when you let the Smarty genie out of his bottle.

LOL,

I'm hoping I can start driving like a normal person, but the new added power and quick response that the truck has now it just awesome! Now with all the rain, it's hard to not spin the tires and drift around corners!! LOL

or you can call cummins, tell parts the year of the truck, and that you want the ecm pin with pigtail.

Just got my smarty an i put it on 5 to start out with. i stay out of the floor but i do like to smoke it out and i just found out that will mke the EGT's higher. but i will be getting me commander soon. i was going to get the commander first but i found the smarty for $400 and just could pass it up. i also put it on #0 today and i think every time i let my better half take it out i am going to set it on #0 just to mess with her. also at setting 5 i don't get any slip but i do notice that with the straight pipe it makes it sound so i need to find the part number for a donalson. with my intake and straight pipe if i stay out of it do you think my EGT's will be ok and if i can make my self stop smokking so much?

Also Tx-Diesel we still need to get together.
