Which Smarty

Okay, going to finally buy into it and get a Smarty on my truck. Just too many good reports to wait any longer. Question would be the Jr or the full blown model?

For my use I don't tow a lot right now nor is it really heavy loads (<7K) but I'm planning to get a medium sized toy hauler (~10K) in the near future. Second, I have an auto tranny and am worried about the higher hp's mixed with the auto. Finally I have a few mods but not a lot and really don't want to add much more but am going to a little larger tire. I'm not sure I will run higher then 100 hp and that the JR would fit that, but having the option for higher hp is tempting. I would take the current box off and plan to just run the Smarty. Also, I don't have gauges and may or may not add them but they won't be on the list right away.

Any major feelings one way or the other?

You need gauges now..... Start saving for the tranny upgrade is what you need to do or you will kill it eventually......

I would by the smarty sr., simply because it gives you the ability to upgrade in the future.

Hi Dwiningernm,

I really like my Hellwig rear sway bar when driving from Angel Fire to Taos. To answer your Question. There is not much difference in performance between your XZT and a Smarty JR. Some but not much. If you are looking for more than the XZT go ahead and get the Smarty senior. Now if you have the XZT 2series there are options for stacking the XZT 2 with a Smarty jr.

Gauges are a must! I'd go with the SmartySr because you would have the 100hp setting and more if you do ever want it. I would say if you don't intend to go over a 100hp go for the JR

Dude take it from somebody who bought the smarty jr. Buy the big one! I'm not sayin that the JR isn't what it's claimed to be, it's just that you might out grow it. I have the JR now and I am already use to the power and want more of it. The Smarty is deffinately the way to go great customer service and the power is unbelievable. The big one has all the settings the little one has plus way more. Trust me go with the big one. you won't regret it.

Yeah, kinda figured the SR would be the way to go and yes, to all, I know gauges are needed and are on the list but just haven't felt I needed them yet. Moving up in the towing weight I figured they would be a must. Sounds like I'd better do the SR route and have the extra in hand if needed.

Next question and this may sound tight and stupid but does anybody ever sell these things on sale?!!! Guess if they are as good as they sound they don't need to!

As for running around NM, yeah, there are a lot of things to see and do here. Some time you guys should turn in off the highway at Counselor and go up through Largo Canyon all the way out the top. Pretty long dirt road drive but it's generally not too bad unless it's wet or there has been snow. Lots to see thorugh there and just has a "feeling" about the place. I'm in the southern part and there is a lot to see and visit down here as well.

Thanks for the info.
