Should I upgrade to Silver 64?

I am going to be heading home from my deployment to Arizona in a few months and thought I might stop by Industrial injection and get my turbo modified from a Silver 62 to a Silver 64. I have a really tight torque converter that makes it hard to get into the right rpm's to light the turbo, so I don't want to go all the way to the silver bullet. Plus I tow a trailer a few times a year and I think I would just be blowing smoke the whole time I was towing because of low rpm's and the silver 66 not being able to make boost at cruising speeds. Should I stay with the 62 or go bigger?

I want some more top end without sacrificing the low end or adding much more lag. Is the 64 for me or should I just leave it alone? Thanks, Tom J.

I'd say leave it alone. I really don't think the difference between the two turbo's would justify the effort.

Anyone else agree or disagree? I really want more top end. I guess I have gotten used to the power and now I want more? I can't afford a modded CP3 now, but I can get a bigger turbo.

I have been contemplating a 64/14/71, for cooler egt's @ WOT. I have issues towing with the Silver62 now, so I am sure a Silver64 would be amplify my problems.

If you make the switch, make sure and post the results.

The 64 will not light faster than a 62 but it should help the top end if your EGT's are getting too high. I don't remember seeing a upgraded intercooler in your sig. That might help too.

I have the BD 33% over intercooler and it increases turbo lag slightly, but drops egts by 200-300 degrees under optimum conditions. also if you want more top end, with less lag the decision is easy. twins! and the good part about that is you can put your silver 62 over a K31 or a Phat shaft 74, and not have to buy 2 new turbos.
