Shifting Problem
Shifting Problem
Hi everyone, Have a 2003 Dodge ram 2500 5.9 cummins with 48re and having a problem with a blip or a quick shutter only does it once and the rpm will drop some and then back up in 3rd gear going into torque lockup and then is fine. Only does it on slight inclines or hills and doesn't do it on flat or declines. Doesn’t do it when overdrive is off. I have checked the alternator AC voltage and was getting less than .03 volts AC just to be exact multimeter would only read it in millivolts AC so I was getting 8 millivolts AC which is nothing and so furthermore i disconnected the 2 wire plug on the alternator and the main charge wire going to the passenger battery for alternator verified the millivolts and it dropped to 1 millivolt AC took truck out and it was still doing it. Remember I wasn’t charging and the alt was completely disconnected at that point. I have replaced the fuel filter. I have also done a transmission fluid change with a new filter. It does have a deep pan on it so it holds more fluid and for better cooling it already had it when I bought the truck. I have also replaced the gear oil in the rear differential. I cleaned the battery connections and also replaced new batteries last year. Fixed all transmission leaks and is full, checked it in neutral. And have also cleaned the main transmission wire plugin and cleaned the speed sensor wire. And have also adjusted both bands one on the inside when i done the fluid change and the one on the side of the trans. It’s still doing it, currently clueless about anything I could do or is it an internal transmission problem? I have a tuner, it's a bully dog and have also unplugged it and the problem still continues. Have also tried some transmission fixx. It's just a friction modifier that didn't change anything after driving for 2 weeks. I do have 35” tires on the truck. It also came with those and are still like new yet hoping that’s not the problem? Haven't replaced any sensors yet on the transmission. I have looked into one of the trans speed sensors but didn’t think it was my problem as the gauges read speed just fine and it shifts great till that one blip it does but right after that it goes into 4th fine also.
It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
