Question Several pin holes in AFE filter=replacement?

So i cleaned my AFE oiled air filter last night using the appropriate AFE cleaner and rinsed it off with my garden hose at low pressure from inside out as I always have. And this morning when i checked it before oilling it I could see several pin holes of day light shinning through. I oilled it up and still there are several holes that can be seen. What do you guys think could have caused these? And do you think im safe running it still? This is only the 3rd time cleanning it and only have 30 000km's with it and I always run a sock over it just to be safe since I do spend time in dusty conditions. Buying a new one every 30,000kms will become a real pain in the you know what!

It says right on their site that they have a limited lifetime warranty. I would call them up and see what they have to say. If you have holes in your filter then that is a defect, which should be covered.

So I just got off the phone with A.F.E. in CA. He told me that to see some daylight through the filter was perfectly normal. The only way to determine if they are actual holes is to get a magnifying glass and check them. He claims that because the micro fibers they use are so small you cannot see them with the human eye it tricks you into seeing holes . Now once I check it with the glass and see no fibers then I've got aproblem. He also did say if that happened to give him a call back and they would be glad to araange something to keep me happy. So im out to find a magnifying glass to check it out, but so far I can say A.F.E seems to be willing to stepping up to the plate for their product and customer service!

Those little holes are the kind of thing that made so many people shy away from the K&N filters in the past. They were like that and the "Official" word from K&N was that the oil filled those gaps

Thay may have fixed that issue by now, not really certain but I do know that what you describe doesn't seem to be a common issue with AFE. I am certain what ever you end up doing, AFE will take good care of you

They seem to be willing to work with me provided I do check it over with the magnifying glass. I wont get a chance to get one till later tonigth but I will keep you guys updated on the results.
53 ****** I had asked about the dry filter and he told me that for what im doing up here(work in the oil patch) the pro guard 7 oilled filter with the sock will be the best filter for my needs. Now thats just from them. By the way I had asked to speak to one of the engineers(he gave me the info stated above) since the customer service rep seemed a little baffled.

I would not put it in with holes in it. If you can see daylight through it, it's a straight path for dust particles.

Well guys Upon further inspection it is full of holes no fibers covering them. I wasnt planning on running it
So I called them up and they are going to upgrade me to the pro-guard 7, but its gonna take up to 7 buisness days to get here which really sucks cause I use my truck for work. I called NADP up here to see if they could give me one and AFE would send them the new one and they said they would be glad to help but they are waiting for some themselves so it looks like I'm goin to have to throw the stock air box back in. But at least AFE resolving my problem the best they can.
