SBC 3600# vs. 3850???

I bought the 3600 at Petes request but now im seeing alot of the 3850's. I think I saw a couple of 4200's is that right. I assume this rating is based on the amount of preassure on the plate or........? Im not sure. I was just wondering how much difference there will be on my clutch when I start to sled pull vs. the 3850's etc. I understand that I need to slip the clutch to pull in some situations and was just curious what will happen?

if you plan to pull I would get that 4200 iron giant. I dont pull, but know alot of guys that do. the 3600 is not holding up in a local 2nd gen thats not that powerful and the truck hasnt been pulled much. I would go for the best. I hear they have an iron giant II or III out now. pourin diesel should chime in he has ran a couple from south bend

The sbc 3600 hasnt given me any troubles yet and I did get the bigger 2nd gen hyd. but I have yet to pull with it. When I bought it I told him just mostly street/tow with the occasional sled pull or drag race. And so far I still like it I just wanted to know what the road ahead of me looks like. Sounds like if people arent happy with the 3600 I might be getting an iron giant I, II, or III soon.

The 4200 is prolly gonna have a pretty stiff pedal.

I run a 3850 in the 98 with the big input shaft, not a bad setup at all, and I've never broken it loose at a pull. I run with a gutted AFC and no plate, so I'm making around 450-500hp with the setup and the clutch holds fine, plus its not too much of a pain to drive in town if need be.

So are drag times moderatly affected from the 3600 to the 3850?

I love my 3600, It allows alot of guys the ability to sled pull if they want and driveablity around town. The pedal pressure isn't bad at all once it gets broken in.

Jesse are you talking about Cramer's truck? I saw it in Ray's garage when I picked mine up on Friday night.
