I just sold my truck saturday and I am going to get an 06 6speed and I was wanting to know what everybody thought about the s and b air intakes? I had an afe on my old truck and liked it but I saw in diesel power that s and b is having a deal on there intakes and intake horns both for 500 bucks. So I just thought I would ask if any body is useing an s and b to see how they work and how people like them.

 

I have had one on my 03 for two years and like it, but dont have anything to compare to really. If I had to do it over again I would just order the biggest filter I could find and put it on the end of my factory intake tube. I read somewhere that somebody did a test and these 3rd gen trucks had made more power with an open filter as apposed to the hole air box setup.

Can you hear the turbo very much ? On my afe I could hear it over a 5in streight pipe and thats what I want the most is the sound of the turbo.

 

I don't have one, but have been in trucks that have them . . . and to my ears they are much quieter than the AFE.

 

I have never riddin in a truck with an afe but I can hear the whistle over my 4in straight pipe, but I also have the old S&B kit, the new one are different.It also get a little louder if you take the plexi glass cover off.

 

If thats what yu want get the AFE. It far and away the loudest. remember to remove your silencer ring also

 

How much loader is an s and b than a stock with no baffel or sincen ring?

 

Louder than stock, I can't say about the gutted tube or ring, I never messed with mine prior to the intake swap.

 

i have the afe mega cannon on my truck now and just took off my s&b 15k ago because i thought it would be louder. I didnt notice any differance at all except that my checking account was less 450 bucks. I should have put that money towards a a3000.....i wouldnt spend the money on an afe again....oh yeah and i ran the s&b for around 90k miles
