Removing Badges for fender flares

The last time I debadged my truck was in 03, and I had a heck of a time removing the black adhesive. I'm putting on my pocket flares this morning and before I start, I'd like to get some advice about removing the C badge on the front fender.... what makes it worse is that it is cold this morning, making the adhesive hard? Any suggestions?

I heated mine up with a hair dryer and then used dental floss to cut under the adhesive. It was still a pain and some of that stuff just didnt want to come off.

Heat it with a heat gun to soften the sticky. Make sure it's good and warm or you will break the plastic Cummins badge. Use your finger to rub the left over sticky and then some paint thinner on a soft cotton rag to clean up any residue.

I took a thin putty knife and wrapped it w/ electrical tape to get the badge off, then used goo gone or goof off to remove the left over black adhesive. Its a paint safe citrus based all purpose remover for lots of things. They sell it at Lowe's and other hardware stores.

Get some fishing line and carefully drag it behind the emblem.

I debadged my entire truck last week. I took 20# fishing line, doubled it and then twisted it until it was "braided", it cut through the adhesive very nicely. Then I used a hard rubber eraser that my 7 year old uses for school and rubbed the remaining adhesive off, cleaned it up with "Goo Gone" then waxed the truck.

after removing the emblem pick up one of these at your local autobody supply store

they work excellent and won't harm the paint

Depending on the flare, 2006's don't need the emblem removed to fit, At least with my Bushwacker extendo's....maybe pocket type you do....never mind...

I just did mine today. If you heat up the emblem with a hair dryer it comes off fairly easy with the fishing line trick. Getting the sticker off is EASy!!. Peel up a corner and pull it parallel to the truck. You should basically be pulling the tape to stretch then start pulling at 30 to 45 degree angle. Pull VERY SLOWLY. Comes up with almost NO mess. use a little goo gone and a credit card. I did mine in about 10 min in 32 degree weather. Hope that helps!
