rattle after rokktech

I have searched the forums and read, where some people get a rattle after they install their rokktech sensor. My truck has always had what can be described as maybe a pinging\rattley sound while cruising down the highway at 55-65 mph. The only way you could hear it was to roll the windows up, shut off everything inside and listen very carefully. Now since I installed the sensor, it seems as if that rattle has become a little louder, granted you have to be listening for it with the windows up and the radio\ac off. Is that what people are hearing with this sensor, and is it detremental to the engine? Thanks

Severe rattle is not good for it, but a Rocktek sensor cant adjust enough timing to hurt it. If its cold where you live, that would be a good reason for a little rattle, I would say don't worry about it.

I say this assuming you have no other timing modification...

No, I don't have any other timing mods, and when I noticed it the most the other morning it was 45 out, and it wasn't up to temp yet......

Normal when you add more timing. More noticeable with a cold engine and cooler weather.

You can always back it off a little and that should clear up the rattle some.

But does the rattle hurt anything? What eventually happens with too much timing?

With only two degrees available from the Rokktech sensor it's not going to hurt anything.
Too much timing will create very high combustion pressures to the extent it will decrease the life of the engine.
