ranchhand or westin
I have narrowed my grill guard choices down to these two. I need something to mount some good lights on and I do alot of driving in deer country so I want one fairly strong. I know they are not as strong as a buckstop, but for about $1000 less, they should at least keep damage down so I can get to where I am going without a tow truck. Any opinions on the strength or looks of either of these two would be appriciated.

RANCHHAND
One came with my truck is the reason I have it. Normally I go thorugh Roughneck a trailer company in OK to get my grill guards (18 trucks since 98). But my current rig was a dealer demo truck and had ranchhand front and rear on it and rhino liner with stepbars. I have pulled people out of ditches with this ranchhand before it is plenty strong.

I picked Tough country over ranchhand. I think the Apache I have on my 2wd looks cool. Bought mine through the dealership at their cost. I am about 40 minutes from Elcampo where they are made.

go to http://www.lonestartruckequipment.com/
they don't have the new version of the bumper on the site yet, but they are twice as strong when it comes to hitting deer or hogs

Manick
I looked long and hard for my Grill guard.I ended up buying a Manick ss brush guard, for my 2004.It has nice mounts for off road lights.I mounted PIAA 80 series fogs on it, they fit nice. The manick also has a tilt out feature, flip two levers and it tilts forward, nice to get at the engine IMHO.My other choice was a tough country grill guard,They looked pretty stout also,The only thing was they did not make a stainless steel one.Good luck.coobie

I have been pondering the grill guard question too and I like the looks of the Diamond B it is made in Winters Texas but they have dealers elswhere and if you call the company they are very helpful. Don't have a link but do a google search.
