ram air hood
ram air hood
Well I finally got my ram air hood. I was a little disappointed with the outcome of the actual cold air intake part of it. The people at the company were mis informed when they told me that it would work on the diesel truck application. The hood fits great and looks bad A. It is not functional though and takes alot of extra money to make functional. Here is how to make it work though. If you already have a cold air intake system on it you are a step ahead in the game, money wise. I found an intake that was very similar in design for what I would need to have dump cold air into my intake. Volant makes the SRT-10 application but it is for the new hemi trucks. What you do is take that and ditch the air filter part of it. You take the hose that runs from the hood scope "recepticle" and run it over into your cold air intake. You hav to notch out the metal box that surrounds the intake so the hose will run through it without a problem. The volant system is about $350 and the AFE is anotehr $300. But it gives you a functional ramair hood that may or maynot help reduce EGTs. I cant tell just yet cause I have yet to do an extended run on the highway or do any sort of run at full throttle. I will post some pics of the hood later on. It is definately a quality hood and quality paint job, shipped straight to my front door.
