Question Rail Pressure readings

Hey guys,

just got my Scout installed a few days ago and been watching it seeing what's what. I think everything is in check but i'm not sure what I should be seeing on the rail pressure portion.

I'm running the smarty on #5, stock exhasut with no muff dumped behind the cab, stock air box. at a stop light i'm seeing 6.5K up to 7.5K and WOT it tops out around 23K...do these numbers seem right??

thanks

increasing the rp is gonna give you more power, however sustained high rail pressure isn't good for the injectors. i believe for the standard revo program,rp setting 0 (defult) and 2 are the same. rp3 (at least on my truck) was too high for daily driving. if i were you, i would keep the rp were it is at until you get yourself a rp guage. you could try sw7 or sw9 though, just keep an eye on your guages

so you don't think the gauge in the Scout is accurate enough?

oh yeah i'm an idiot, i guess that how this thread started you can try rp3, just watch your guage. i read numerous times, from very reputable people, that you don't want your rp to be 20k or higher while cruising around

I am curious about this too. There is tons of info on egt numbers posted, but not near as much for rp readings.

What types of numbers do people consider "safe" for dyno runs, pulls, highway crusising and drag strip? I realize everyone has different comfort levels, but different opinions help me determine what I feel is safe.

So as long as when i'm just crusing around it doesn't go over 20K its' ok...

someone should make a sticky for things like, EGT levels, RP levels, fuel pressure levels, etc. Like a reference guide, that way we wouldn't have to make a bunch of different threads or search the whole data base for easy guideline answers...I too would be interested in the answer to Stovetop's question.

thanks guys.

my rp runs about 23- 24k with my diablo and my injectors are fine. I though you did not want to run pass 27500 because if you do bad things happen.

That's about where my RP Is at WOT, I think what Jason was saying is cruising around town, you don't want to see the RP higher than 20K...basically for an extended period of time...

i'm not sure but that's how I read it. Maybe other folks who are a bit more knowledgeable will chime in soon.
