I am still not seeing any significant differences on my RP with the MP8 on or off. I guess I need to go ahead and update the Smarty to REVO like OmahaRam suggested and see if that changes anything.

I sure hate to change the way it runs right now.

For those that have updated to REVO, do you mind explaining any differences you felt from your truck...........good or bad. Did it lower your RP to a safe level without effecting the performance? Did it effect dyno HP/TQ ratings?

Thanks again for any advice that will help me resolve this without negatively effecting my current performance.

I pulled 4.4 off and ran the freeway yesterday I was expecting more of a RP drop when I took 4.4 off..but it was only about 1,500psi

2006 CTD
4.4~75-80mph cruise=19,500-20,500
Stock~75-80mph cruise=18,500-19,500

so is the extra 1,000-1,500 psi really beating down injectors that much faster????
Don knows WAYYYY better/more then me...but I was expecting more of a RP drop when I took smarty4.4 off.

what do you think Don??

Yep, I'd like to know too. Don, what is your suggestion/remedy if we can't get the RP down to "acceptable" levels?

I still don't see any significant difference in RP when I turn down the MP-8. I can just tell that the truck isn't as responsive without it. I still haven't switched to REVO yet though...no time.

Hmmm, have you checked to see if you have the MP-8 and RP gauge connected to the rail pressure sensor in the right sequence?

I'm running the Revo TNT software #9 with RP level 2, and also have an MP-8.

With the MP-8 on 0%, the rail pressure maxes out around 21,000 or so. Cruising light throttle is around 17,000, but it's very sensitive to throttle position. Cruising heavier throttle (pulling hill on interstate, passing, 85 mph+) and the pressure tries to stay at 20 - 21k...although sometimes it's a little back and forth with the stock CP3 trying to keep up.

I've only done it a few times, but if I turn the MP-8 up to 100%, pressure will peak closer to 27,000...usually as I'm letting off the throttle.

If I'm cruising steady at 75 mph or so, I can turn the MP-8 dial, and immediately see it's effect on the rail pressure gauge...as well as feel a little kick in the pants with increasing pressure.

Sometimes if I need to run hard for a short burst, I'll turn the MP-8 up to 100% as I'm just getting into the throttle. This seems to spool the turbo better and help the cp3 keep up. Then, as I'm starting to back off the throttle, I'll turn the MP-8 quickly to 0% to prevent the high spiking that occurs otherwise.

17.5-20k is a significant fluctuation in pressure. 17.5 being very safe, 20k doing long term damage (according to the experts). Get on some flat ground, set the cruise control, and report back.

The Revo will allow one to tune the pressure. Use no pressure and enjoy longer injector life.

I cant give a value of what is bad and good as far as pressure goes. I can say without a doubt that injectors from the 04.5 and up engines fail faster and with more frequency than the 03-04 engines that operate at lower pressure overall.

I put a considerable amount of cash and many hours into a pressure box to sell starting back in 2004. Needless to say that box is not for sale. The obvious conflict of interst of repairing injectors and selling pressure elevating boxes is apparent. I step over the boxes, the thousands of dollars in just wiring harnesses and connectors, the software, and 3 ring binders of data, etc. and think about kicking a hole in the wall.

IMO, pressure is important in making HP. Its part of the plan to get the most you can. On the other hand, injectors are akin savings accounts. Every time you turn up the pressure .....you make a withdrawal from said account.

Don, your pm box must be full, I may have a use for some of the excess connectors you have laying around.
