Rail pressure gauge question

Rail pressure gauge question
I have noticed the vast majority of the time at idle my rail pressure is about 6,000 sometimes once the truck has been driven and warmed up before shutting it off while at idle the rail pressure is down to 4-5000. Idle quality and rpm's remain normal. I can then turn the truck off and start it back up and the rail p. is back at 6,000. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks, Jay

I have noticed the same type variation readings on mine. Mine normally is a little higher at idle around 7,000 and will drop to around 5,000 sometimes after it is warmed up when idleing. My readings are not really consistent with what I feel (SOTP) is about the same conditions excelleration. But that could just be the triple stack asking for different fuel amounts during conditions that are really different, but just don't feel like it with my SOTP. Of course my SOTP meter is getting old and could be warn out.

My rail gauge , has been doing that, and worse. Sometimes it reads correct for a 1/2 hour. Sometime it only lasts 10 minutes.
Drops the 3000 at idle & reads low every where else when its acts up.
Disconnecting the gauge & reconnecting the gauge resets the gauge but not permanently.
Its been this way since new.

Same with mine. Sometimes it's accurate for hours, sometimes minutes. Everytime I shut her down and restart, or unplug the gauge and replug it in, it seems to reset for some period of time. Like doug60 said, once it starts reading low, it reads low everywhere. Also been that way since I got it.
