Rail pressure

Does the rail pressure normally flucuate somewhat at idle? I did a search and some people state that they will hold a set amount while others state between 4800-5600psi. Is this normal for it to jump around? Should it be holding steady at a given psi?

Yeah, I wondered the same thing when I put the RP gauge in, it jumps around like crazy. Caught me all kinds of off guard.

My question: Do you guys see like 6** psi when you turn the key on, before the engine is even running? I never bothered asking before, but it is kind of on topic here...

Mine varies NO more than 300. 800 sounds like a lot of variance for just idling.
