? for Qzilla!!

have a 2006 and have the xzt on it. Jeremy @ quad said that no guages are needed for this economy chip. Is this true or do i have to worry about high egts. If so then what are the main causes of high egt's. do not hot rod and tow 10000lbs every weekend but only about 30 miles. Thanks you for your honest answer.

If it helps any look at my sig, I pulled around 10k to Texas and back a couple of weeks ago. A 7 ton 24' gooseneck with 7 4 wheelers on the deck and 2 on the neck, so 9 total. I kept my box on the lowest settin (60 horse) and runnin through Mississippi on some of the hills I saw 1400 a few times and 1450 twice. But I was in 6th with my foot in it doin 80. A ford tried to run me once and I hit 89.3 on gps runnin uphill but didnt look at the guage, I was lookin at the ford in my rearview.

He is right and wrong. That is a double edged sword.

If you want to tow just like you tow now, but make it easier and not loose speed on small inlcines then, NO you don't have to have a gauge.

If you want to tow faster and harder and get the absolute most you can out of your truck then YES you need a pyro gauge.

If you drive "normal", you are not trying to beat everyone up the hill or gain 5 mph up a hill then you will be fine. If you get the extra power and want to squeeze every last mph out of your rig then get a gauge.

On a stock truck about 1400 degrees is about all you should be able to get out of the truck with the XZT. I guess you could get it in a bad spot, but it would be hard to get it over 1400 which is about 100 degrees hotter than the average truck.

So you can probably answer the question better than anyone else as you know how you drive and know what you are going to do with the extra power.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

If a living quarters 8' short wall G/N horse trailer with just 1100 pounds of horse set on 100 on the Xzill. just gets to 1250 degrees on Ranger Hill you should be fine with the XZT. Oh by the way Quad, love the new Commander.
