Quick fuel pump question?
Quick fuel pump question?
Was going to get the Raptor-100 kit but, low funds say otherwise. Right now I have the fuel canister nounted pump and only getting 4psi. Can I just get an in-line pump(walbro392,holley blue etc...) and splice the stock fuel line and use the factory return and just use the pump adapter? Is there anything I need besides the correct fittings and pump harrness?
If you run a Walbro like that, which is what the kit installs like anyway, you will need a pressure regulator. A Holley or Carter won't really be the best bet but will waste your money in the mean time.
The cheapest is to splice a holley blue. I went with the DIY Walbro and spliced a swagelok bypass adjustable regulator into the return line but the simflo will work just fine and is preset at 20 psi. Use a strainer/screen type filter before the walbro. the Walbro will pull more than stock therefore pickup things the stock pump would not. If you use the Holley remove the screen in the buttom of the pump. The screen can cause the holley to run dry.
There is a great article in the tech section about the Walbro install.

So what happens to the factory return line going up beside the fuel filter canister? Do I use the dorman fittings to connect the pump to the factory hard line? Sorry for all the questions.....I'm having a case of the Mondays even though its Tuesday!
