Questions about boost gauges
Can boost gauges be repaired? Got my truck at the end of June 2010 and it has Autometer pyrometer and vac/boost,the pyro works but the vac/boost does not. The needle is buried underneath the stop pin. If it can be fixed is it worth it or should I just buy another one? Is the vac/boost needed on a diesel engine or will just a boost gauge be enough? Thanks.
Gauges can usually be repaired if sent back to the manufacturer. Autometer has a pretty good repair program.
Turbo engines often produce vacuum. Usually during closed throttle. My gauge runs off the OBDII port, and doesn't register vacuum. But I often see it at 0 boost.
