Question for Xzillaraider XZT Owners

I'm looking for a moderate, cost-effective, and no-fuss power boost (for towing purposes only, no drags) for my 2003 HO and from what I read on the forums it seems that the Xzillaraider XZT towing module product might be exactly what I'm looking for. My question is... I've seen reports from anywhere as much as a few mpg increase to an actual mileage decrease after installing the module. Is there any kind of consensus on this? I'm headed out for a long trip next month towing about 10k and if the box saves me even one (solid) mpg then I could pay for most of the cost on that one trip alone, making the purchase a no-brainer. On the other hand I'm not willing to lose 1-2 mpg. Any comments?

Also the ad text on the site says that 'some' XZT modules also monitor oil temperature as an added safety feature. Does the towing module do this and is the feature effective?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

So far so good with mine. Noticably more power, pulls hills real easy now.

I think the mileage depends on how well you resist the temptation to play with the new found power.

No doubt! I meant mileage towing at a steady 65 straight and level...

I have had my XZT for over a year now. I gained 2 mpg empty and towing with the box. I think it is a great box for towing that adds just the right power and mileage. I have added a Commander monitor and have never seen EGT's over 1350 towing in 100* heat up a hill. Our 5th wheel is right at 10k. Since the Commander has now made the XZT adjustable I am going to go from 65 hp on our next trip to the 45 hp setting just to see if I notice any difference.

Hunter11,......Do you know what the EGT's were before the XZT?

Sorry but I don't know that. I have only had the Commander about 1 1/2 months.

Yeah, I put the XZT in before the Commander came in... though all you should have to do is set the XZT to 0 to get an idea of what stock was. I havn't done it yet as I'm not seeing high EGT's with it turned on. I saw the upper end of 1200's while pulling the trailer up a hill and it was lugging a little.. a little poke on the pedal to get it to downshift and the EGT's went down.

I've had my xzt in for about a year now and love it. I can honestly say i've never seen a decrease in fuel economy. My truck is funny though. I'll range anywhere from 16 to 19 mpg (hand calculated). I never did see 19 when I was driving w/o the xzt, so i guess that's where that's coming from. Other than that, I've never had egt problems (though i don't tow heavy things) and I'm happy with the power increase it provides. I'd buy another if I bought another truck.
