Question from a newbie.
Question from a newbie.
Hello, my name is Jim and I am a recovering gasser...I have been gas sober for 1month now"
OK now that that is out of the way, I finaly got my deisel. I bought a 2005 2500...I have been reading posts on here for some a couple weeks now trying to figure some things out. The information has been very infromative...I want to leave the truck pretty much stock (Until the warrenty runs out then watch out) I do want to add at lease a couple gauges, FP gauge, turbo temp gauge and maybe a transmission temp gauge. Do adding these gauges void the warrenty in any way (since you are drilling into and adding etc..) I am not a mechanic and I have 4 kids so my time is limited. I cannot seem to find a shop in my area. Anyone know of a good deisel shop in VA. Preferably northern VA (Fredricksburgh or north)?

Welcome to the DTR and to the great world of diesel trucks!
You will not void your warranty by installing the gauges. If you are looking for
some help on the install of the gauges or any other parts contact DTR Member
Tim Barber (Timinva). He is over near Virginia Beach and is a great guy. I know
he will help you out if you don't find anyone closer. Go to the top of the page
click on "members" and type his name in. You will get his "profile" page along
with his e-mail and P.M. info.
Good luck and welcome aboard!

Personally, I think any time you drill into your exhaust manifold then you stand a chance of AT LEAST voiding the warranty on your turbo and without a doubt the exhaust manifold. That said, I wouldn't let it keep me from doing it.
Thanks guys. Ill shoot him an e-mail next week. for the first time ever I cant wait for a warrenty to run out. I promised the wife I wouldnt add to much to the truck until the warrenty runs out (she knows me to well) right now just added the line x bed liner. Adding nerf bars, seat covers, mud flaps, catch all floor mats, gauges and some bigger BFG's (I do a ton of hunting and fishing). She made me promise no engine upgrades or suspension work until at least 75k miles....GOOD THING I DRIVE 40k a year!!!!!!!
Welcome to the "Wonderful World of Diesels"
I promise you that you will probably never want for a gasser truck again! We have a local DTR chapter here in VA if you're interested. You can click the link in my signature that will take to a printable membership form and PM me for the address to send it to.
Glad to have another Virginian on the site!

Tim is a great guy and it's worth the drive. He did my TC install. Plus he's got one BADD truck!!!!
cough! cough! I'm still coughing up soot from this summer's dyno day.
By the way, I told my wife my truck was perfect when I got it and I wasn't going to do anything to it but drive it..
