cruising at 70 my temps are also about 1000. smarty on 5 tm 2 rp 3 tq 3. It ran about 800 stock cruising. and yeah I've had a few guages, mechanical and junk. I tow on smarty 1 and peaks about 1400 on long pulls. Empty 0-100 it will hit 1500 at 50 psi peak. No boost leaks it just runs hot and always was. It spools fast but is always 3-400 hotter than my brothers second gen at cruising speeds. I think its just fine to hit 1400 for a minute or two. I've done it towing mountains for 100k since my crazy larry days. Good luck getting to some of the EGT numbers people sometimes claim on here with a small single.

 

I have an 03 with a 62 and My egts are CRAZY HIGH I can hit 16-17K NO PROBLEM 8th mile maybe. I dont know whats wrong.
