Question on EGT's

I put my Silver 62 back on my truck, till I do Twins. I noticed that running Smarty Revo TNT empty at 70 my EGTs are a consistent 1000-1100. Pulling my boat, they are at 1200 pulling flat??

I've seen people running Smarty with stock turbos that are at 800 at 70mph.

The turbo doesn't have more than 15K miles on it, it spools easily to 50psi... no play in shaft, but it just seems that the truck runs pretty hot.

Anyone running a Sil 62, or SPS 62 with smarty have similar temps?

I am stacking with MP8 tomorrow... what should I run to keep temps in check till I can fork out $$ for Twins..

With the MP8, I'm assuming I should run the Smarty on stock RP right?

thanks

I am considering a Silver 62 and am alarmed at your EGTs

With my Smarty JR set at #3, I rarely see over 1000 (WOT).

Cruising at 70 MPH, my EGTs will settle into around 700-800

Yah, I don't remember ever hitting over 1250 with the 62 when running the 4.2, 4.3, or 4.4...... now on a hard run empty, I can hit 1400 easy???

Come on guys, I know there's like 10K people on here with a Smarty and some with 62MM turbo's. What are your EGTs like? I'm going to add the MP8 today, around 50% and turn the Smarty down to 5 or 7. I'm turning the RP to stock. Maybe this will lower my EGT's. I may have to wait for twins, don't know with the economy if I can dump another 4K into her.

I had a 62 with my smarty and now I have twins with that 62 and the smarty. Does that answer your question? PS I dont have EGT issues anymore

I have a silver 62 and a smarty. I cannot go over 1250 degrees on sw9. That is at wot from 0-100. But I am not running REVO TNT. This could be the issue, also depends on the settings you are running with REVO.

What's your rail and fuel pressure? If you are not getting enough fuel to spool that turbo, it's going to run hot. I see you have a stage II, i guess it should not be a fuel problem.

How about boost numbers all around? Do they look normal?

What setting do you have the smarty on?

I run smarty tnt on 9 and see 700 to 800 at 70mph. 1k seems high for cruising at 70.

My FP is set at 40psi, on a WOT run my RP max's at 25600psi. At cruise RP is hovering around 18K. Idle RP is 7-8k. Boost # look ok, I can peg it at 50psi on a WOT run. I used to rarely see over 1250 on a hard run or even pulling, and that was with the 4.2/3 on lvl 9. I run the Revo TNT on level 9 too. Now, I can hit 1400 empty

- Can you go back to 4.2/4.3 and try again...if it's normal, you can deduce it's the tnt software or the specific settings

Could this be the timing on TNT? I would go with the other suggestion and load the older software to see if the temps come back to where you expect them.

What settings on TNT Revo are you using? Do you have stock sticks or aftermarket?

Back the timing down. Too much timing will cause the turbo not to spool, hence the high EGT's.

OK, I've got the MP8 on, I've got the smarty on 7 with Timing on Default and RP default ( is this the lowest pressure setting or is it 1). With timing, I thought I remembered that the Timing was a little weird the higher # ie 4 is the lowest timing? is this correct?

once I figure out what the lowest Timing and RP setting is on Smarty, I'll go give it another spin, but I can tell you my first run with Smarty on 6 and MP8 on <50%, my tires spun thru 3rd with my TC locked.... really makes the truck feel like a different truck.

On another note, I'm going out of town for a month, and want to due Flux 2's, who's got the best prices and best to deal with?

That is correct about the timing. It will be either timing 2 or 3 that will work best for you. You will have to play with it to see which one performs best while towing. Go to mad's site to read up on the Revo TNT.pdf
