Question about exhaust

I just bought a 2006 Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab truck. Can everyone give me their opinion on which aftermarket exhaust I should go with. My dad has a powerstroke with 4 inch exhaust on it and it sounds really good. Also can I add just a muffler and exhaust tip or do I need to add stainless pipes as well.

Your truck already HAS 4". I would recommend (although I have yet to do myself) straight piping (muffler delete) it and adding a 5" or bigger tip.

No need to go out and drop dough replacing a perfectly good exhaust.

If you had a 2nd gen I would say go for it (which I did), but not with a 2006.

dont forget guys,, that the stock exhaust system is only 3.5" for the turbo downpipe,, then goes to 4" also a aftermarket system tends to smooth out the flow of exhaust,, but that being said,, only if you are looking for lower EGT's will the downpipe be an issue,, in my personal situation I dropped allmost 200 degrees after the mbrp was put on.

06 exhaust is 4" all the way, even the downpipe.

Mine is.

One less thing to have to fool with for now.

On my '05 I just changed the muff for an Aeroturbine 4040L. Everything else is stock. Sounds good and no drone when towing.
