Race vs tow
HDPower ---
I cant say I know because my truck is stock. But just from what I have read on the post. The race really works your truck and if your not carefull, you can really tare up the tranny. I guess thats why i am leaning towards the tow mod.

As a general rule mine stays on the 60 hp setting because I get the best mileage on that and normally don't switch to the high settings unless someone wants to play..but yes I agree about the tranny upgrade...that's next on the mod list.

My mileage dropped about 1/2 to 1 mpg with the box on the 60hp setting. That's still better than the EZ which dropped my mileage 2 points. Just because mine dropped doesn't mean yours will though. I've read lots of posts of the miraculous mileage increases but I haven't experienced them yet... The power's great though..

The way I hear it, the mileage gains are realized when you use the 30hp setting on the 30-60-100 box. This is the box I have.
I would imagine that some gains could be had if you run on the 60hp setting and keep your foot out of it. I'm seeing my best mileage increases running @ 65 (2000 rpm). It is hard driving that slow but with the fuel prices now I'm having to force myself.

I'm standing on one foot then the other!!! I just ordered my race box today along with the quad intake. They should compliment my Aeroturbine quite nicely

I have the race box and I picked up about 1.5mpg. I have also heard that the race box has more low end then the standard does, it comes on sooner or something

oh, also I have never slipped the clutch on mine even on 130 mode. I have also pulled a 12000 camper on the 100 mode and never slipped it. I love my race box it really helped out everwhere.

Just installed mine. Went for a cruise, but I couln't really open it up becuase the rush hour cops were out. But, I kinda noticed a more ooomp. Tried it once on 100, didn't go to 140. 60 felt ok. Waiting for my gauges to get here today. You guys with gauges, does this thing raise the temps when your on 100 or 140? I will be able to test her @ 5 am tomorrow. I did notice I can chirp my 285's and a bit of smoke on accelleration, but it goes away. I guess it works ok. Most importantly, NO CODES popped up when I started her. Hope it stays that way.

The higher setting will raise the EGT's but they are manageable, opening up the exhaust and airbox helps somewhat, you are right on track with getting gauges...EGT being a priority.
