Quad Commander Fuel Pressure problem?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem. I have the commander, with fuel pressure harness and my fuel pressure was reading great for a while, then it suddenly went to a solid 40psi, doesn't move. So I took the wire off made sure it was clean, put some dielectric on it, then put it back on the sender, still 40psi solid with or without truck running. Anyone else have this or know what is wrong? Thanks in advance.

Quad Commander

I put a Quad Commander with the XZT. I didn't put the fuel pressure on, but my ckeck engine light won't go out. Any advice?

Thanks

I honestly don't know, double check all of your connections maybe?

mopaman - sounds like the wire is shorted to ground somewhere. Is the fiber washer under the ring terminal? If the wire is touching ground anywhere it will read 40. It also can't be touching the sender, only the threaded stud. Try unhooking the wire and see what the guage reads. It should be 0 with the wire unhooked. If not - the wire is touching ground somewhere. Or last possibility is the guage unit went bad, but not likely.

X2 : The fiber washer goes on first then the ring terminal. As VZdude said it is grounded

I second those notions.

On the fuel pressure sensor the lower the mV reading the higher the pressure. So in this instance it sounds like it is reading 0.

I am not sure what changed or what could have changed but, it sounds like the signal line is reading 0 or ground?? Check that portion of the connection to make sure the fiber washer is on the sensor first and you should be good to go.

Fiber washer

Thanks but the fiber washer is on there, then the metal washer, the nut, wire/connector, then the final nut. I can't seem to find anywhere else that the wire could be grounded, I took a look inside all the convoluted tubing up to the connections. I took the wire off of the sender and it still reads 40psi. Does that help narrow anything down? I am confused.

Yellow wire right? Pull on it a little to make sure it isn't touching ground like where it comes in the cab or something. Thats about it. Could possibly have a bad commander I guess.

VZ thanks for the info I tried that, but to no avail. By the way I really like the commander, just wondering what I need to do to get the fuel pressure to work right. I also went through and dielectric greased the ground to it, put that back on and the power feed, put that back on, no change. Should I just call tech support?

That sounds like the next step unfortunately. You've checked all the easy stuff. It is defiantely the yellow wire right? I know there are several wires with ring termianls. Just double checking!

Did you check the green connectors under the dash to make sure there is nothing loose at those connections. It could have a loose pin on the harness that is not making good contact which could cause it to max the reading out because there is no signal to the Commander.

It is the yellow wire yes, I did notice today that the nut that holds the stud tight to the sending unit was a little loose, as in the stud was loose, so I tightened that snug and put it back together, but still get the same 40psi reading. I also checked the green plug where it goes to the monitor, unplugged it, everything looked good to the naked eye, put it back together, but still pegs the gauge at 40psi. So i just left a message at the tech support line so I think I will just wait for them to call back, but I am going on an 800 mile trip this weekend so I was hoping to solve the problem before the weekend.
