Pyrometer installed....now trouble light is on!
Here the story....
Today I installed my Di-pricol pyrometer on a SRT-10 pillar. Everything went OK... drilled out manifold at #3 cylinder like the instructions from Geno's. I used alot of grease on the drill and covered the exhaust pipe about 75% with duct tape with engine running. Worked great. Glad I had glasses on because once I broke through, chips came flying out. Installed thermocouple no problems. I thought everything was OK till I started the motor to go for a test drive and the engine malfunction indicator light came on and won't go out. I was wondering if partially blocking off the exhaust caused the light to go on. If so, How do I get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

cycle your ignition switch between "off" and "run" positions (don't crank the starter) three times. then tell us the engine code that appears -- folks here can look up the code and we can help interpret what it means.
Yea Doug I removed the box. I did forget to plug in the sensor before starting. I just went out and looked...there it was not connected.
That must have given me my fault. A Big Thank-you! Install went so well, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Anyway., now that I am connected again, will the code clear?

yup thats it! ok what you did was set that code when you started the engine without that connector installed. It contains the ambient air temperature sensor signal and the ECM freeks out when that it not connected.
You have some options:
1. The code I believe will clear itself after several start/stops and/or warmup cycles. This number is pretty high I think (lots of warmup cycles). So if you're patient you could just do nothing and the code should disappear on its own after several days.
2. go to Autozone and let them hook up their scan tool. they'll ask you to press the "reset" button that will clear that code.

Just to be sure, go to autozone and see if their scanner picks up any codes. there are codes that do not trigger the instrument panel MIL. odds are you're just fine, but it wouldnt hurt to make sure.
When I installed my gauges I got the same code. After awhile the light went out, however the coded was stored in the ECM. I had the recall done on my transmission shortly after and told the dealer about the code. They cleared it free of charge. Code has not returned.
